Episode 4 opened with a significant power shift, as Takauji Ashikaga usurped the throne and became the new Emperor.
His first order of business was to consolidate power by placing his loyalists in key positions. One such appointment was Sadamune Ogasawara, the governor of Shinano, who is tasked with hunting down remnants of the Hojo clan.
As the political landscape changed dramatically, Tokiyuki grapples with his training, revealing a stark contrast between his ambition and current abilities.
Meanwhile, the threat drew closer as Sadamune arrived in Sawa territory, demanding the surrender of any Hojo loyalists. Undeterred, Yorishige devised a daring plan—a high-stakes game of hide-and-seek with Sadamune himself. With his new alias, Chojumaru, Tokiyuki would shadow Sadamune closely, learning from the skilled archer’s techniques while remaining undetected.
To escalate tensions and create a pretext for a search, Sadamune organized an archery competition. Yorishige accepted the challenge on behalf of the temple residents, pitting the inexperienced Tokiyuki against the veteran archer, Sadamune.
The stakes were high, as Sadamune’s victory granted his men free reign to search the area, while defeat protected the sanctuary.
